What I AteAfter recording what i ate for a couple things a few things were made clear. The main thing I noticed was most of the food I ate was not locally sourced. Only 13.3% of the food I consumed was locally sourced. The second thing I noticed was that the amount of I consume is almost a 50% between processed and organic food.

Second Quarter Indoor System ProgressWe were assigned plants to care for at school by are teacher. I was assigned to care for are indoor system. Are indoor system uses hydroponics to grow the plants. Hydroponics is a system of growing plants without using soil by using mineral solutions in a water solvent. The roots of the plant are supported by some gravel in the pot. Some of the plants in my system include lettuce and basil, which are growing nicely in the system. To care for these plants my group checks the ph levels and adds water to the system that is consumed by the plants.
The plants in the system are eggplant, basil, and lettuce. |

Third Quarter Indoor System Progress
My groups assigned indoor system went through major changes during the third quarter. A aphid outbreak occurred in the group right next to us and crossed over into our system. We first thought we had a lot of time to deal with the problem because at first the plants looked healthy and strong. Then took a quick turn for the worse and died. So we had to start the system over again from scratch. To be able to plant more new plants we had to take care of the dead ones. We threw the dead platens in the trash and emptied out the rocks in the pots to clean. We then went and painted new seeds for the trees to grow in the teachers little greenhouse. After that we noticed that bugs that had killed are plants seemed to still be on are tank so we took it outside and cleaned off the system. Once we had everything cleaned we reassembled the system indoors. We eventually added the new plants back into the pots in the tank for them to grow. The tank next to ours had some aphid looking bugs again so we used the pesticide the teacher had taught us to make to spray are plants. The platens were fine until the last week of the quarter. The ph level was at 8.6 and acidic level, so we used ph downer to lower the level to 7.5.

Nitrogen CycleThis is a cycle where nitrogen is converted in to multiple chemical forms as it circulates among atmosphere, terrestrial, and marine ecosystems. This cycle is very important because all organisms require nitrogen to live and grow. Without it we and the rest of life on earth would most likely die. So its important not to mess with the cycle because tis a re source of life.

Carbon CyclePlants use carbon dioxide and sunlight to make their own food and grow. The carbon becomes part of the plant. When that plant dies and becomes buried it may turn into fossil fuels made of carbon over millions of years. When humans burn fossil fuels, most of the carbon quickly enters the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. This carbon cycle is very important for plants to grow, and maintaining earths temperature.

Overview
All three of these systems are integral to us and life on earth. At the center of all these systems of nature is plants and trees. Yet the way the world is now you would not know this. Pollution and deforestation are killing plants and trees and negatively affecting these cycles.
